ED 447
Professor Ries has taught this class for the spring of 2011. I have never written a blog in the entirety of my life so this was a new experience for me. I think that blogs could be useful for posting weekly assignments but updating it daily is a bit of a stretch for me. I had fun doing some of the other projects like the webquest, survey monkey, photostory, and comic life... but found the inspiration and the podcast recording to be of little use... I would have liked to learn more about the Smart Board since we will use that more than most of the other things we learned about when we become teachers... I liked this class but the amount of work was a little too much to be cramped into one semester.

Ghost of Eden
A friend of mine has recently been really crazy over this new band... The name is Ghost of Eden... I listened to some of the songs and thought that they were pretty cool... Their songs are on ITunes, but here are a couple of youtube links to some of their live songs... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5wOLkwCAfY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f78_hDxAjSo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoMOsYighZE the videos don't quite do the band justice but you can get an idea of the talent they possess...

Cheat / B.S. / I Doubt It
This game can be played with 3 to 8 players (10 if you are good)...
A deck of 52 cards is shiffled and dealt out to all players face down...
The player with the 3 (or Ace if you prefer) of spades goes first... That player then plays his beginning card (only) face up on the pile...
The card order is:
3's, 4's, 5's, 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's, 10's, Jacks, Queens, Kings, Aces, 2's, 3's, etc. in that order
The next player (to the immediate left or right) must play the next successive card face down on the pile (If a player has more than one of the same type he can try to place them all face down)... The player says the number he is on and the number of cards he placed face down... If the player does not have a card that is supposed to be placed down next, he must bluff and pretend to put down the card that comes next...
If a players thinks that another player is lying, he/she must say Cheat/B.S./I-Doubt-It and if the alleged liar was actually lying the liar must pick up the whole pile... However if the alleged liar was not lying, the accuser must pick up the whole pile.
The person who resumes the game is the one directly beside the player who pick up the pile... That player places his/her card face down and can start off with any card he/she chooses (they may lie if they want to)...
Players win by running out of all of their cards... When the last two remaining players are left, they count their cards and the player with the least amount of cards wins...
Optional Rules:
1. I a player lies and the next player has already played another cards, the liar says "Haha-I-Lied/Peanut-Butter/I-Cheated"
2. For additional players an additional deck may be mixed in...
3. The game may be played with Jokers... and Jokers are considered wild cards that can be used as any other card name...
Enjoy!!

Another Card Game
The name of the game is Egyptian Ratscrew (or Egyptian War).
It is fast-pased for two or more players.
First the deck is dealt out (face down) among all of the players.
Next the players shuffle their cards also without looking at them.
The player then take turns flipping the top card from their dealt cards or personal decks face-up onto the pile (The 1st to go starts the pile off)
Face cards and Aces have special meanings for this game. If one of these cards are placed face-up onto the pile, the next player must put a number of cards* on the pile then the pile is handed to the placer of the special card:
*Jack = 1 card
*Queen = 2 card
*King = 3 card
*Ace = 4 card
If the next player happens to put down another special card before the number of cards he/she has to put down runs out... the following person has to begin placing cards based on the interupting special card* Whenever the number of card chances run out, the pile goes to whomever placed the last special card...
Another rule!!
I any two cards of the same type are in order (without another card in between) the pile may be slapped...
Whoever slaps the pile first gets the whole pile.
This may happen any where in the game... even between special cards...
(Optional Rules)
When two of the same card are only interupted by one card, the pile may be slapped... (example: 2,9,2; 3,Ace,3; 4,Jack,4)
Or when two successive cards add up to ten, the pile may be slapped (example: 2+8; 3+7; 4+6; Ace+9)
The point of the game is to obtain all of the cards...
Enjoy!!

Valentines Day...
Did anyone do anything new interesting or unique for their significant other? May be you gave them a card or wrote a song... If you forgot, you have my pity because "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned..."
